Chris Spires
Senior Pastor
Chris Spires was called to First Baptist Church of Murrells Inlet on January 7th, 2007. Chris graduated fro Erskine College in 2002 with a degree in Christian Education and a minor in Biology. After graduation, he worked as an Admissions Counselor for his alma mater. Also during this time, Pastor Spires served as the Youth Minister for First Baptist Church of Winnsboro and worked for the South Carolina Baptist Convention at White Oak Conference Center.
Pastor Spires attended The Souther Baptist Theological Seminary in Louisville, Kentucky, and in December 2006, he received his Masters of Divinity. During his time at Southern, Pastor Spires married his wife, Hannah Spires, who graduated from the University of South Carolina with a degree in Public Relations. Chris served as the Minister to Young Adults at New Heights Baptist Church in Louisville and worked for the Southern Seminary in the Institutional Relations Office recruiting students and raising funds for school endowments.
Pastor Spires and Hannah have been blessed with the birth of their first son, Henning Spires, on November 8th, 2008.
